Concrete Supports for Parents

“Love and business and family and religion and art and patriotism are nothing but shadows of words when a man’s starving.”

-O. Henry

What are concrete supports?

Concrete supports are all of the things and services that make it possible to get by day to day.  Without housing, transportation, medical care, food, clothing, money, etc. it is extremely difficult to support a child’s development.

Finding access to resources can be one of the biggest challenges for a parent.  Services are often available from different sources in different locations.  Many services have strict guidelines about who qualifies.  Getting through all the red tape can be complicated.  The best thing that a parent can do is educate themselves about what is available in their area and how to get what they need.
