Nurturing Parents
Nurturing Parenting Programs is an education program to be used with families in situations that impact their ability to parent. Sessions are 2 hours in duration and meet weekly for 12 weeks. A children’s component is available to provide skill-building activities to children for families bringing children with them.
Pre-test and post-test data gathered showed significant positive changes in parenting and child rearing attitudes, including: expectations appropriate to development; increased empathy; decreased corporal punishment; decreased parent-child role reversal. This curriculum places greater emphasis on helping parents develop concrete parenting skills as well as think about the influence and importance of individual cultures on parenting and the parent child relationship.
